Texbet: What Sports Are On Offer?
Texbet Australia focuses on horse and greyhound racing. It becomes clear as soon as you enter the homepage: the upcoming races are always on top while other sports are way below and go unnoticed at first.
The selection of events contains 15 sports:
- American football
- Australian rules football
- Baseball
- Basketball
- Boxing
- Cricket
- Darts
- Soccer
- Golf
- Ice hockey
- Motor racing
- Rugby
- Snooker
- Tennis
- Volleyball
The sports betting offer is quite poor. Texbet is good enough only for those who place big market bets (1/X/2, totals, handicaps and so on) on major sports. The selection of Texbet sports betting markets is disappointingly poor. For example, for the 2022 FIFA World Cup group stage matches, Texbet offered 15 markets to bet on at best while selection offered by their competitors is larger by far: Betstar offered up to 160 markets, Playup – up to 277, Unibet – up to 553. The same is true for all sports events in the market.
Let’s take a closer look at some Texbet events:
- Racing. The selection of markets here is very large. The bookmaker offers three types of races: gallops, greyhounds and harness. There is always a range of races for punters to choose, the market is always full. The most common types of racing markets are win/place, quinella, exacta, trifecta and first 4. In win or place odds you can choose between fixed win, fixed place, totes (win) and middle tote (place). The selection of betting events has two segments, AU/NZ and International. The offering includes foreign racing events in the UK, the USA, France, Brazil, South Africa, Japan and other countries.
- Australian rules. In the Australian rules section you can place a bet on the NAB AFL women’s league only. The range of betting markets is poor: e.g. for the Melbourne Women vs North Melbourne Women game on 19/11/2022 the bookmaker offered only 3 betting markets: 1/X/2, HT and O/U.
- Basketball. The Basketball section offers a wider range of betting events. There are the NBA, the NBL, the WNBL, the NCAA and some national leagues. There is an NBA Features menu, yet at the time of this review outrights were unavailable. The selection of betting markets is larger than in Australian rules but not quite as good, compared to other bookmakers, there are no more than 20 markets to bet on NBA matches: 1/X/2, O/U and quarter bets.
- Cricket. The ICC World Twenty20, the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League, the WBBL, Twenty20 Internationals etc. are in the list of international cricket events. As you may guess the Texbet selection of betting markets in cricket is limited, too. For instance, for the WBBL game between the Melbourne Stars Women and the Perth Scorchers Women on 19/11/2020 there was a selection of 7 markets to bet on, and it is a lot compared to other games of this matchday.
- Tennis. There are the main tournaments of the ATP and WTA series, as well as competitions of the not so popular ITF, Challenger and HPP. Here Texbet is quite predictable and still offers only several basic betting markets. Thus, for the ATP Finals there were only 6 betting markets.
Texbet Live Betting
Australian government has been long fighting the national disaster, i.e. gambling addiction. The country is steadily on top of the list of gambling participation. The authorities have taken a large number of measures to limit the bookmakers’ activity. The 2001 Interactive Gambling Act is one of the strictest laws in the area. It controls bookmakers’ activity and, what is more, prohibits In Play betting.
To circumvent these restrictions, bookmakers use the loophole of mobile live betting. Punters make a call on a given number and place bets via the operator. Unfortunately, Texbet doesn’t provide this service. Being a 100% legal, Texbet doesn’t accept In Play bets.
Streaming on Texbet
Racing betting fans will highly appreciate Texbet TV — a live streaming service broadcasting horse and greyhound races. Texbet users can watch high-quality broadcasts without registering.
You can follow races everywhere because the service is available both in the web-based mobile version and the app for Android and iOS devices. The streaming service broadcasts horse and greyhound races; sporting events are unavailable.
Texbet App
Along with mobile version there is Texbet mobile apps both for Android and iOS. The platform looks very much like the desktop version, with the same design and menu it provides all the functions of Texbet. This allows you to:
- Register and verify your account
- Deposit and withdraw money from your account
- Make bets
- Follow the races via Texbet TV
We haven’t encountered any problems with the app, all menus work fast and the system looks well-structured. At the time of writing this Texbet review the iOS app had a 4.4 star average rating from 897 reviews. The requirement for iPhones and iPads is iOS 12.0 or later. The Android app had a 4.3 star average rating from 268 reviews. It requires Android 5.0 and up.

Texbet Promotions
Australian legislation prohibits the bookmakers’ promotions. Yet there is an exception: in NSW and Victoria local laws allow to advertise enhanced odds. In Victoria you can find reload bonus offer advertisements. Many bookmakers try to sidestep the restrictions and advertise their promotions (bonuses included) on the streets, stadiums, social media and mail-out even to non-registered customers. Some companies go as far as to ignore the legislation. For many bigger bookmakers it’s cheaper to pay the fine than to give up on advertising that might substantially increase the number of customers.
As for Texbet, on their website you can find the Promotions section, which contains information about the availability of Texbet promos, Free bets and so on. All information on promotions can be obtained only by registered users. A separate type of special rewards is available for ClubTex members. Also, the betting site may provide for the possibility of using the Texbet promo code, but you should learn about its availability separately.
Texbet Australia Bonuses
Australian legislation prohibits us from telling you about Free bets for registration and any other bookmaker’s bonus promotions in this Texbet review.
Naturally, illegal bookmakers are unlikely to comply with the laws and limit themselves with prohibitions – such bookmakers will be happy to tell you about their bonuses on the main page of the betting site. However, we recommend avoiding such platforms and betting with licensed bookmakers only. Texbet is a legal betting operator, so all information about bonuses and promo codes is not available for unregistered users.
What else you should know before you bet with Texbet
Texbet focuses on horse racing and greyhound racing bets. The corresponding section displays gallops, greyhounds and harness on the same page. Races are highlighted in three different colors:
- Blue icons indicate races with fixed odds markets.
- Green icons indicate races you have placed bets on.
- Orange icons indicate races with boosted odds and other promos.
The pleasant feature is that Texbet pays out money if the horse comes first but then is relegated (Protest Payout). In the event that the protest against the first horse is upheld, the bookmaker will pay out both the temporary winner (the first past post) and the official winner indicated by the judges. The Protest Payout applies to every Australian Thoroughbred and Draft horse race. To get money you must be registered on the site and go through account verification.
The annoying feature is that for upcoming races the days and hours until their start are shown rather than the race time. Also, for greater convenience, the site could display the name of the race when hovering over it – for some reason, Texbet did not think of this simple function.
Key Features of Texbet Betting
The Texbet website offers the users some nice features. The main ones are:
- ClubTex. Texbet’s attractive feature is ClubTex, a loyalty programme for existing customers who can count on various promotions from the company, limited merch and other bonuses. You can join the community only by invitations that are issued by ClubTex concierge team. Moderators issue invitations depending on user activity – the more a punter bets in Texbet the higher the chances of joining the club. Membership in the community is not permanent: if you do not bet for more than one month you are to be excluded.
- Texbet TV. The service for broadcasting horse and greyhound races. Although the function cannot be called unique (many top betting sites in Australia also provide such an opportunity), the Texbet video service level is quite high. The broadcast quality is pleasant and you can watch the races even without registering on the betting website.
- Same Game Multi. In the English-speaking world it is also known as a Bet Builder. The feature allows you to combine several outcomes of one event in one bet slip, which is usually not allowed by bookmakers offering traditional bets. You can choose, for example, a win, a total and a handicap in one match – the bet odds will be automatically calculated in the bet slip. Such a bet cannot be placed on every event – the events available for the Same Game Multi are marked with a special blue SGM badge.
Texbet Odds
The Texbet margin for soccer reaches high values and often steps over the psychological threshold of 10%. This is higher than the average for the Australian betting market and for other markets too. Just look how much worse Texbet’s margin is compared to that of their competitors for the France vs Australia match: Unibet – 3.98%, Betstar – 5.72%, Palmerbet – 5.76%, Texbet – 10.54%. The situation is much better in basketball and tennis, where the Texbet margin is fixed within 5-7% – this is the average margin for many other bookmakers in Australia. If we add up all the odds for soccer, basketball and tennis, we get an average margin of 7.54% – not catastrophically high, but worse than on more generous betting sites. Let’s analyze the Texbet odds on some examples.
Sport | League | Date | Match | Margin 1/X/2 | Margin O/U |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Soccer | World Cup | 22/11/2022 | France – Australia | 10.54% | 8.24% |
Soccer | The Emirates FA Cup | 16/11/2022 | Salford City- Peterborough United | 11.50% | 8.11% |
Soccer | Friendly Match | 16/11/2022 | Sweden – Mexico | 10.69% | 5.87% |
Basketball | NBA | 19/11/2022 | Washington Wizards – Miami Heat | 4.73% | 5.27% |
Basketball | NBL | 19/11/2022 | S.E. Melbourne Phoenix – Melbourne United | 5.36% | 5.09% |
Basketball | Korean Basketball League | 19/11/2022 | Goyang Orion Orions – Suwon KT Sonicboom | 7.01% | 6.95% |
Tennis | WTA Argentina Open | 19/11/2022 | Ormaechea, P – Kovinic, D | 5.94% | 6.94% |
Tennis | Challenger Banque Nationale de Drummondville | 19/11/2022 | Pospisil, V – Mayot, H | 5.97% | 7.06% |
Tennis | Hyogo Noah Challenger | 19/11/2022 | O’Connell, C – Watanuki, Yosuke | 6.08% | 6.98% |
In this Texbet review, let’s look at another 2022 World Cup match – Senegal vs Netherlands. The betting odds are 5.50 for the African team to win, 3.50 for a draw and 1.55 for the Netherlands to win. To calculate the bookmaker’s margin, we use the formula (1/5.50 + 1/3.50 + 1/1.55 – 1) x 100, so the odds are 11.27%. For a match of this level this is a very high and uncompetitive figure.
Now let’s calculate the margin in the NBA game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Atlanta Hawks on 22/11/2022. Texbet odds are 1.70 for the Cleveland Cavaliers to win, and 2.15 for the Atlanta Hawks to win. If we remove the draw variable from our formula, we get the following calculation: (1/1.70 + 1/2.15 – 1) x 100 = 5.34%. You can see that Texbet offers excellent odds in basketball.
And finally, tennis. Let’s consider the confrontation of Maria Carle with Panna Udvardy in the WTA Argentina Open on 19/11/2022. The bookmaker estimated the chances of winning as 2.70 and 1.45 respectively. If we put these into our formula (1/2.70 + 1/1.45 – 1) x 100, we get a margin of 6%. This value can be considered common in the market for tournaments of this level.
How Do I Get a Texbet Card?
At the moment the Texbet does not issue personalised payment cards. For payments you can use other available methods: Visa and Mastercard, the Poli payment system, as well as a direct transfer.
Texbet Security
Texbet is a 100% legal Australian operator with all the necessary permissions to conduct betting business. The bookmaker is licensed by Racing NSW and Liquor, Gaming & Racing NSW and is a member of the New South Wales Bookmakers Co-op, an association that guarantees the payout of all winning bets.
O’Shea Bookmaking, trading as Texbet, is owned and operated by Terry O’Shea, a well-known and respected Australian bookmaker who created Texbet back in 1973 as a family business. The long history and reputation of a reliable betting operator is another argument in favour of Texbet security. On the operator’s page it is emphasised that Texbet supports and complies with the Australian Bookmakers Association Code of Practice.
BetMakers platform used by Texbet has proven to be secure with various security features such as SSL encryption.
Texbet Customer Service
Texbet customer support is provided by live chat, email (info@texbet.com.au) or phone (1800 839 238). The work of the operators leaves an overall positive impression. At the time of writing this Texbet review, we contacted the support via the live chat several times and each time we had to wait no more than a few seconds for a response. If you choose this method of communication, be prepared to chat with the bot first, it gives answers to frequently asked questions. For convenience, you can choose the topic of the conversation from the options offered at the beginning. If the help of the bot turns out to be useless, the operator will contact you.
Unfortunately, the live chat is not available 24/7 (in the chat window you can see how much time is left before the operators start working) – this is a significant disadvantage compared to competitors offering 24/7 feedback. The FAQ section also needs some improvement. At the moment, it covers only ClubTex issues, although most punters would clearly appreciate more diverse and in-depth coverage of all aspects of the bookmaker’s work.
Tips and Tricks for Betting at Texbet
If you have chosen Texbet as your betting platform, here are some simple tips to help you get the most out of the site. Let’s take a look at what Texbet offer.
- Use bookmaker’s features. The Protest Payout, ClubTex, Same Game Multi, TexBet TV features are noteworthy. The more actively you use all the possibilities of the bookmaker, the faster your betting experience grows, and hence the chances of winning. Knowing all the intricacies of working with the site, you will make fewer mistakes in forecasts and get an advantage over beginners.
- Analyse the statistics thoroughly. Thorough study of the information on upcoming events greatly increases your chances to correctly predict the outcome of the match. Be sure to check the previous results of the participants in the event before placing bets. The Texbet website has a convenient calendar in the Races section, where you can see the results of previous events you are interested in.
- Control your bankroll. A universal and very important tip is to control your bank and not to bet more than a certain percentage of it. Set a limit for yourself at 5% and do not exceed this amount when betting. This will make it possible not to lose all the money quickly in the event of a series of failures and save funds for new attempts. Texbet features allow you to set personal betting limits (per day, week, two weeks or month) and loss limits (per day, week, two weeks or month). Use this feature to control your bankroll and not blow all your money in a short time.
