You are allowed to transfer at least $20 using this payment system.
While with the minimum limits, everything is clear, the situation with the maximum deposit amount is much more complicated. For example, Visa and Mastercard have a limit of up to $1,000. BPAY and land-based betting shops have no maximum deposit limits. But in PayPal and Apple Pay, the maximum deposit limits depend on the customer’s status in these payment systems: it varies from $1,000 with the Bronze Account Status and up to $100,000 with the Diamond Account Status.
As for funds withdrawals, TAB offers only three withdrawal methods: PayPal, cash and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). For EFT and cash, there are no minimum and maximum withdrawal limits; meanwhile, for PayPal, the situation is a bit more complicated. The minimum withdrawal amount is $0.01, and the maximum Cash Out amount varies depending on the customer’s status in the payment system: it ranges from $5,000 with the Bronze Account Status and up to $10,000 with the Diamond Account Status.

Bet hereTAB: What Sports Are on Offer?
TAB offers an ordinary selection of betting events with no rare sports and without great choice of outrights.
On the betting site, you can bet on the following sports:
- AFL;
- American football;
- Baseball;
- Basketball;
- Boxing;
- Cricket;
- Cycling;
- Golf;
- Handball;
- Ice hockey;
- Motor sport;
- Racing;
- Rugby league;
- Rugby union;
- Snooker;
- Soccer;
- Surfing;
- Tennis;
- UFC;
- Volleyball.
If you want to diversify your betting process, TAB offers you to bet on non-sporting categories: “Entertainment” (Love Island, Academy Awards), “Novelties” (Triple J Hottest 100, 2022 AACTA Award, Box Office Futures) and «Politics» (US Election, NSW Politics, UK Politics, US Election Novelty, Australian Federal Politics).
Further, let’s look at the traditional Australian sports, which locals love most, as well as find out how large the TAB’s selection of events to bet on these sports is.
Racing
For many Australians, racing is the main sport of life. Just look at the Melbourne Cup, within which Victorian civil servants get the day off. The Melbourne Cup’s unofficial motto clearly reflects the Aussies’ love to this sport: “The race that stops a nation”.
Consequently, for TAB, racing betting (horse racing, greyhounds, harness) is a priority area. The bookmaker has even placed this sport in a separate section. Every day, the TAB’s selection of betting events provides over 50 competitions and 250+ races. Also, you can place “Futures” and “Racing Extras” bets.
The TAB’s selection of betting events also includes international races. For beginners, the only disadvantage is the absence of race names. Instead, TAB uses the names of localities or racetracks where the races take place.
The TAB’s selection of racing betting events is full of a great number of markets and various statistical data.
Types of bets:
- Win/Place;
- Quinella;
- Trifecta;
- First 4;
- Exacta;
- Duet;
- Bundle Bet;
- Parlay;
- Double;
- Treble;
- Quaddie.
Statistical data:
- Weight
- Rating
- % Place
- % Win
- Track
- Distance
- Past performance history (video/audio)
Rugby
Rugby is another beloved sport in Australia. The National Rugby League (NRL) is one of the strongest in the world, and the Australia national team is the undisputed leader in the international arena.
With TAB, you can bet on both Rugby league and Rugby union matches.
In the “Rugby League” section, there are only bets on the NRL. Unfortunately, the bookmaker does not offer bets on national championships of other countries. And in the “Rugby Union” section, TAB customers can bet on the winner of international competitions of both clubs and national teams. For example, HSBC 7s, European Champions Cup, Six Nations, Men’s World Cup.
Much to our disappointment, you can only bet on the winner of the match or the whole tournament. The bookmaker does not offer any other bets on rugby.
Cricket
Aussies are obsessed not only with racing and rugby. Cricket is another national sport in Australia: on the continent, over 1.3 million people play this great game. And the men’s and women’s national teams lead the world cricket ranking (ICC).
With TAB, you can bet on the following cricket tournaments: Test Matches, One Day Internationals, T10 Cricket League, Big Bash, Men’s World Cup, Ashes.
Meanwhile, the bookmaker offers a very poor selection of markets to bet on rugby, with cricket, the situation is the opposite. Customers can bet on more than 40 markets (Results, High Bat, Player of the Match, Over/Under Runs, Wicker Taker, Man Out etc.).
TAB Live Betting
Australians are one of the most gambling nations on the planet. The annual average betting expenses of a Victorian are about $1,500, and those of a New South Wales resident are about $1,800. Struggling with compulsive gambling, in 2001, the Australian Government adopted the Interactive Gambling Act, which prohibited In Play betting once and for all. However, the effect of the restrictions turned out to be minimal. To replace classic live betting, which was banned in the country, bookmakers have invented the “Click to Call” feature. In simple terms, this is betting by phone. Technically, you do not place In Play bets, so this does not violate the applicable law. Currently, Australian authorities have not found a way to ban the “Click to Call” feature.
So, to place a bet by phone, you need to:
- Open the bookmaker’s official site or app.
- Switch to the “In Play” section.
- Select the necessary sport and event.
- Choose a betting market.
- Call the number shown on the screen.
- Dictate your name and your account betting number to the operator.
- After confirming the information, name the code of the selected bet (indicated next to the odds).
- Wait for confirmation from the operator.
- If everything is correct, the stake amount will be debited from your account.
Streaming on TAB
There is live streaming on the Tab official site and in its app. Streaming is available in low quality on three channels: Sky 1, Sky 2 and Sky Central. Of course, these are not the British Sky channels; TAB only streams racing (horse racing, greyhounds and harness). Meanwhile, live streaming does not work for tennis, soccer and other sports, despite the presence of the “Watch” button.
TAB App
The bookmaker has its own betting app. You can download it from the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).
TAB App for iOS
Here are step-by-step instructions on how to download the app to your iPhone:
- Open the App Store.
- In the search bar, enter the app’s name: TAB-Racing & Sports Betting.
- Click on the “Download” button.
After downloading, the app will be automatically installed and ready for operation. The icon of the app will appear on the iPhone screen.
TAB for Android
The procedure of installing the app on the Android device is similar:
- Open Google Play.
- In the search bar, enter the app’s name: TAB-Racing & Sports Betting.
- Click on the “Download” button.
After downloading, the app will be automatically installed and appear on the screen of your smartphone.
If you cannot find the app in the Google Play Store or do not want to download it from there, you can download the APK file directly from the betting site.
- Open the betting site.
- Switch to the “Help Centre” section at the bottom of the screen.
- In the search bar, enter “Downloading/Installing the TAB App”.
- Open the relevant article.
- Find the subtitle “To download the TAB app on an Android device”.
- Follow the link in the text.
- On the new page, click on the “Download the new TAB app” button.
For unknown reasons, the “Download the new TAB app” button is temporarily not working. When trying to download the APK file, the customer is taken to the home page and the download does not start. Perhaps in the future the bookmaker will fix this problem. So, currently, the Google Play Store is the only way to download the Android app.
The TAB app offers a user-friendly interface, modern design, the ability to watch racing live streaming directly from your smartphone and the full range of betting markets, just like on the site. The only difference is in section arrangement. On the betting site, the main sections (Menu, In Play) are located at the top of the screen, and in the app, they are at the bottom of the screen. The Sports and Racing sections are on the main page in the centre of the screen.

TAB Promotions
In Australia, betting advertising is partially banned. The restriction appeared after adoption of the consumer law on May 27, 2019 (NCRF). The new law prohibits advertising of gambling in all public places (stadiums, streets, stations, parks, near educational institutions etc.). However, the betting ban only partially affected television. Gambling is not allowed to be advertised only from 6:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The restriction applies both to working days and weekends.
Of course, not all bookmakers respect the NCRF. They continue to actively popularise betting among locals and even ready to pay huge daily fines of $1.1 million. The reason is simple: it is easier to pay a fine than to refuse to advertise betting. Financially, this is a profitable strategy for Australian betting companies. However, when bookmakers cannot directly advertise gambling, they use indirect advertising methods, which include placing information about themselves on T-shirts of professional sportsmen, on street poles, in social networks, in the form of email newsletters etc.
TAB Australia Bonuses
While betting advertising is only partially restricted, bonuses are not allowed to be advertised in any way, including television, streets or the Internet. This is strictly forbidden! The Interactive Gambling Act of 2001 prohibits advertising of betting promotions to all unauthorised customers even on the operator’s site. There are only two legal ways to learn about bookmakers’ bonus offers:
- Register on the betting site and gain access to the “Promotions” section.
- When registering, enable promo emails.
Is It Possible to Learn about Betting Bonuses without Registration?
While analysing the Australian betting market, the Match.Center team discovered that many betting companies mention their promotions in the “Terms and Conditions” document. When describing promo types, bookmakers always use the following wordings: “we can have”, “probably”, “if you are eligible” referring to a particular promotion. There is no guarantee that this bonus is on offer right now. But there are reasons to hope for a bonus.
We have analysed the T&C’s of the TAB betting company and found only one bonus. The bookmaker writes a little about it. This is Cash Back: it is a refund of a part of the funds lost on betting. However, the bookmaker does not provide the promotion conditions, the way to receive it and the requirements for potential wagering.
We do not advertise betting bonuses. This is prohibited by Australian law. We just use the information presented in official documents of the betting company and available without authorisation.
What Else You Should Know Before You Bet on TAB
TAB is one of the largest players in the Australian betting market. Their official history begins in 1994. However, the bookmaker has been successfully operating on the continent since 1961. And in 1994, the company went public and its shares appeared on the Australian Stock Exchange.
Currently, the TAB betting company is managed by the same name Tabcorp holding company. However, the bookmaker had a second name, UBET, for a long time. It was under this brand that the betting company operated in the states of Queensland, Tasmania, The Northern Territory and South Australia.
Key Features of TAB Betting
- On the TAB website you can bet on 15+ sports, as well as on “Entertainment”, “Novelties” and “Politics”.
- Live streaming of all types of racing is available (horse racing, harness, greyhounds).
- There is a “Check & Collect” feature. You can scan a TAB retail ticket in the app and receive your winnings directly to your betting account.
TAB Odds
As usual, in the TAB selection of betting events, the level of the margin depends on the prestige of the tournament. The higher the match status, the lower the margin, and, consequently, the better the odds. The average margin on soccer varies from 5.2% to 8.3%, on basketball – from 5.2% to 8.1%, and on tennis – from 7.4% to 8.3%. Generally, TAB often offers higher odds, compared to those of competitors (Neds, Ladbrokes, Palmerbet).
Sport | League | Date | Match | Margin of 1/X/2 in % | Margin of totals in % |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Soccer | World Cup | 30/11/22 | Australia – Denmark | 3.5% | 5.2% |
Soccer | English Premier League | 26/12/22 | Brentford – Tottenham | 9.00% | 8.3% |

Basketball | NBA | 01/12/22 | Cleveland Cavaliers – Philadelphia | 4.1% | 5.2% |
Basketball | EuroCup | 30/11/22 | Lietkabelis – Cedevita | 7.9% | 8.1% |
Basketball | NBL | 01/12/22 | Brisbane – Perth | 5.3% | 5.2% |
Tennis | Challenger Maia | 30/11/22 | Domingues – Neuchrist | 7.00% | 8.3% |
Tennis | WTA 125 Andorra | 30/11/22 | Chang S – Schoofs | 6.9% | 7.5% |
Tennis | Challenger Maspalomas | 30/11/22 | Diez S – Echargui | 6.6% | 7.4% |
Soccer margin calculation. The World Cup 2022. Round 3. Australia – Denmark. The 1/X/2 betting odds are the following: 7.00 – 4.40 – 1.50 (Australia to win – Draw – Denmark to win). Let’s calculate the commission using the formula: (1/7.00 + 1/4.40 + 1/1.50 – 1) x 100 = 3.5%.
Bookmaker | Australia | Draw | Denmark | Margin |
---|---|---|---|---|
TAB | 7.00 | 4.40 | 1.50 | 3.5% |
Neds | 7.00 | 4.00 | 1.50 | 5.8% |
Ladbrokes | 7.00 | 4.00 | 1.50 | 5.8% |
Palmerbet | 7.00 | 4.33 | 1.50 | 3.8% |
Basketball margin calculation. The NBA. The Cleveland Cavaliers against the Philadelphia 76ers. In this match, the bookmaker assessed the potential of the teams with the following odds: 1.56 – 2.50 (First team to win – Second team to win). TAB’s margin is: (1/1.56 + 1/2.50 – 1) x 100 = 4.1%.
Bookmaker | Cleveland | Philadelphia | Margin |
---|---|---|---|
TAB | 1.56 | 2.50 | 4.1% |
Neds | 1.55 | 2.50 | 4.5% |
Ladbrokes | 1.55 | 2.50 | 4.5% |
Palmerbet | 1.58 | 2.40 | 4.8% |
Tennis margin calculation. The Challenger Maia. Joao Domingues – Maximilian Neuchrist. To win a match odds are the following: 1.55 – 2.35. Then we plug the numbers into our formula and get the following margin size: (1/1.55 + 1/2.35 – 1) x 100 = 7.00%.
Bookmaker | Joao Domingues | Maximilian Neuchrist | Margin |
---|---|---|---|
TAB | 1.55 | 2.35 | 7.00% |
Neds | 1.57 | 2.25 | 8.00% |
Ladbrokes | 1.57 | 2.25 | 8.00% |
Palmerbet | 1.57 | 2.31 | 6.8% |
How Do I Get a TAB Card?
Bookmaker cards are one of the main features of some large Australian betting companies. The main advantage of such cards is instant funds withdrawals from the betting account.
Unfortunately, TAB does not have its own bookmaker card, that is why it is impossible to get it.
TAB Security
TAB is a legal bookmaker and one of the leaders in the Australian betting market. It is safe to bet with TAB and here is why:
- The bookmaker has a valid gambling licence in every state of the country.
- TAB operates in strict compliance with the Interactive Gambling Act, the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act, the Privacy Act and other acts.
- TAB strictly adheres to its privacy policy. You can read about it at the bottom of the screen on the home page of the betting site.
- The betting site has a +18 icon, as well as provides a list of legal codes that guide the bookmaker in its operation.
- TAB offers their customers to set deposit limits for the purpose of dealing with the problem of compulsive gambling.
- At least once a year, the betting company conducts regular training of all its employees in Responsible Gambling Policy. Brochures with similar information are also offered to customers of TAB land-based betting shops across Australia.
Customer Service at TAB
TAB’s customer support service is really poor. There is neither a live chat nor an email address to write to. To contact the operator, there are only a hotline (number 133 390) and a feedback form. On the hotline, you can get a quick answer to your question. As for the feedback form, you will never get an instant response. It will take you from a couple of hours to several days to receive the operator’s answer. This is outrageous and unforgivable for one of the leaders in the Australian betting market!
If you do not want to turn to TAB operators for help, there is a huge “Help Centre” on the betting site. There you can find information on any question.
So, let’s sum up. Here are the methods to contact the Tab operator:
- Hotline. It works 24/7. Phone number is 133 390.
- Feedback form. The reply is sent to your email.
- In-detail “Help Centre”.
Tips and Tricks for Betting at TAB
For you, the Match.Center team has prepared universal tips on how to bet on any sport.
- Bet in the pre-match mode. It is much more difficult to bet in the live mode. You need to analyse information quickly. That is why, at an early stage, for beginners, it will be difficult to profitably place In Play bets.
- Cash Out is the way to losing. When using the Cash Out feature, you always pay an extra commission to the bookmaker. Hence, in the long run, you will almost constantly be in the red.
- Be cool. If you are unlucky in betting today, put it off until the next day. Do not try to win back immediately. It will probably aggravate the situation.
- Do not place big bets. Bet only those amounts that you can afford to lose.
