After registration and the first deposit, you need to verify your betting account to enjoy all the bookmaker’s features, including funds withdrawals.
Sportsbet Verification
Any popular online bookmaker requests an account verification - a documentary proof that the details you entered during registration are correct. Verification is obligatory: if you do not go through this procedure, legally, the bookmaker can block your betting account within 72 hours. Furthermore, verification is needed to access the winnings withdrawal feature.
To verify your account:
If you have done everything correctly, your betting account status will change to “Verified”.
If something is wrong and the betting account is still not verified, contact the support team via live chat or by phone: 1 800 990 907 (from 6 a.m. to midnight).
How to Place a Bet on Sportsbet online
It is very simple to bet on any sports and racing markets with Sportsbet:
In practice, this is done quickly and intuitively: the procedure of placing a bet is almost identical for all betting sites. It is easier than learning to ride a bike, and you will never unlearn it either.
Telephone bets is the only difference between Australian and other bookmakers in live betting department. Just clicking in the market and entering the stake amount will not work. This type of betting requires a phone call. On the brightside, telephone bets is an old tradition that can make you feel nostalgy.
Australian Sportsbet Payment Methods
The Sportsbet selection of deposit methods is not large. It only includes Australia’s most popular payment methods: credit or debit card, PayPal, POLi, Apple Pay, BPay, bank transfer, and the Sportsbet Cash card.

Debit card
Card payments are used worldwide – it is convenient and almost always immediate. Both Visa and Mastercard are supported. To deposit funds, you need to fill in the boxes with your card data and then confirm the deposit on the payment system page.

PayPal
It is one of the largest online payments services, founded in 1998 and headquartered in California. It is a fast and convenient online payment method.
In 2003, the company decided to stop providing its payment service to online gaming sites. At that time, PayPal was the largest payment processor in the online gambling industry. In 2010, the service resumed transactions for gaming but only in those countries, where it is not prohibited by law, and only for licenced sites.

POLi
It is an online payment service based in Melbourne. Its peculiarity lies in the fact that, to make a payment, the client does not need to sign up for the POLi system.

Apple Pay
It is a mobile payment service that can replace a credit card or make a PIN transaction. It operates only on Apple devices. Touch ID and Face ID are supported.

BPay
It is an Australian company providing online and mobile banking services, which defines itself as a service for fast and easy bill payments. It is one of the two non-instant payment methods available on Sportsbet.

Bank Transfer
It is a classic. It takes 1-2 working days before the funds are credited to your betting account.
Method | Min Dep | Deposit Time | Min Withdrawal | Withdrawal Time |
---|---|---|---|---|
Visa / Mastercard | $5 | Instant | $10 | 1-2 business days (transfers to credit cards only) |

That’s it. If you have selected one of the instant payment methods, which are the majority, the funds will be credited into your account in the next few minutes.
For the mobile site and app, the deposit procedure is the same.
How to Withdraw from Sportsbet
To withdraw funds from your Sportsbet account:
After that, you just have to wait for funds to be credited to your account. The transaction time depends on the payment method and can range from several hours to 5 working days.
Keep in mind that in most cases, bookmakers only allow you to withdraw funds in the same way that you deposited them. But regardless of the deposit method, you can request a withdrawal by bank transfer.
Sportsbet: What Sports Are On Offer?
One of the Sportsbet pros is a wide range of sports to bet on, including niche alpine skiing, lacrosse, netball.
In total, the selection of betting events contains more than 30 sports. The bookmaker also accepts online wagers on politics and entertainment.
Of course, the betting company is mainly focused on racing and several team sports events that are popular in Australia.
Horse Racing
If you are an Australian online betting site, you have no right to be a bad provider of racing betting. In the Sportsbet selection, you will find Australian racing and lots of racing meetings held in the UK, France, the USA, South America and Asia. Many of them are accompanied by free live streaming thanx to Sky racing channels.
For each race, there are detailed information on the horse’s physical shape and a small analytical preview from Sportsbet racing team.
About a third of races provided by Sportsbet contain free live streaming by SKY1 and SKY2. If the stream is available, there will be a corresponding icon next to the racetrack name.
For the most popular Australian races and other thoroughbreds meetings, the bookmaker offers a large selection of markets, including Each-way, Quinella, Trifecta, First 4, Exacta and Same Race Multi.
For minor races, only bets on the winner are available.

Tips for one of minor races in Japan
Sportsbet provides a selection of horse racing betting markets for several days ahead. It also offers Futures. As early as November 2022 customers can place online wagers on such big racing event as the Melbourne Cup (australian's favourite thoroughbred race) that will be held in November 2023.
Everything said about horse racing is also true for greyhound races and harness: there are lots of races, live streaming, and information on the physical shape of dogs or harnesses, as well as pre-race analytical summaries at the bookmaker.
The betting company provides Racing same game multis and Best bets tips (quick predictions).
American football
Sportsbet has a really wide range of markets to bet on any NFL sporting event:
In total, there are about 200 betting markets per match.
Basketball
Sportsbet provides a large selection of sports markets to bet on the NBA: half-time and quarter bets, as well as lots of markets on team leader personal statistics. For example, in the Atlanta – Cleveland match, you can place a “To score 40+ points” only on Trae Young at 14.00. Meanwhile, you can already place a bet on “To score 30+ points” bet on two players: Young, 2.55 and Dejounte Murray at 7.75.
There are also bets on assists and rebounds.
NBA matches are broadcasted in full in the live streaming section.
However, for other basketball leagues, the selection of betting markets is poor. For instance, on an Australian NBL match, you can place only a 2-way bet. For Korean and Argentine league matches, only handicap, O/U and quarter bets are available. And you can watch some of such matches on the betting site.
Soccer
You'll find the top 2-3 levels of leagues of every top European championship, tournaments of several other countries of the world, as well as the Australian championship.
For top leagues, such as the English Premier League, Champions League and other international leagues, the bookmaker offers several hundred markets to bet on. These are mainly a variety of O/U bets on the whole match or each half of it, handicaps, exact score and margin bets, as well as Lead at 10-20-30-50 bets.
For the FIFA World Cup matches, the selection of betting markets is more diverse. In addition to all of the above, there are bets on goals, assists, corners, cards and penalty shoot-outs.
Sportsbet Live Betting
Sportsbet provides a small range of events to bet on in the live mode. For some of them, it offers a large selection of live betting markets. For example, you can find about 100 markets to bet on tennis and over 50 of them – on cricket. Even for not the most popular cricket, there are about 30 markets to bet on.
In Play betting is prohibited for Australian betting sites. The government believes that this provokes excessive interest in gambling and leads to compulsive gambling. However, you can place In Play bets by phone. The corresponding phone numbers are available on the Contact Us page. For racing betting, there is a separate phone number.
Here, you can also find an international phone number; however, only residents of Australia and New Zealand are allowed to place bets.
Free Live Streaming on Sportsbet
On Sportsbet, live stream service is available mainly for racing and the NBA. For most popular races, there are SKY Racing channels broadcast.
Other sports are hardly ever streamed. No live stream provided even for table tennis, which is normally broadcasted by many bookmakers. At the time of writing this review, we found a ferr live streaming for only 1 out of 16 tennis matches available for In Play betting.
Sportsbet App
Sportsbet has Android mobile app and iOS app. They are almost identical to the mobile site. The main difference is the lower menu, which you can use to switch between races, the selection of events to bet on other sports and live betting. You can access every section through mobile app 'hamburger' menu.
The app is as convinient as a desktop site. Betting, watching streams, and selecting matches are all quick and easy.

Sportsbet Promotions
In Australia, it is illegal to attract clients to betting with bonus offers. That is why we will not do it either. To learn if there is a Sportsbet sign up bonus at all, you need to sign up.
The upside is that, on Sportsbet, the registration procedure is very simple, and you can read about it above in the article.
On the Sportsbet site, you can see hints of promotions. At the top of the page, there are banners with the bookmaker’s promises of an Instant payout and Best payout. These are not bonuses, but simply the advantages of this betting company. For a registered customer, the banners are likely to be more varied.
Sportsbet Australia Bonuses
As we have written before, first, you need to register with the bookmaker to access its promotions and bonuses. This is a quick procedure that requires nothing but your personal details. If you register with a licenced betting company, you do not have to worry about the security of this data.
It is not necessary to make a deposit straight away, although the bookmaker will offer you to do this right after registration. You can look around first and then decide whether you need the offered bonuses or whether you should search for something else.

Sportsbet Odds
We compare betting odds by calculating the margin. If it is high, therefore, the odds are poor. Sportsbet has a mid-level margin. It is definitely not a low one, as it is at least 4% for all sports (at other bookmakers, we have seen a margin of 2-3% for popular sports). In soccer, the odds are really poor, even for a match with the Australia national team. A margin of 10% is a lot. For tennis matches, the bookmaker also charges more, compared to its competitors. For this sport, 5-6% is a normal margin. On Sportsbet, there is only one market on an ATP match that has a margin of 5%; in most cases the odds are poor.
Sportsbet offers its best odds on American football – the margin is about 5%.
Sport | Tournament | Date | Rival | Margin 1/X/2 | Margin O/U |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
American Football | NFL | 21/11/2022 | Carolina Panthers - Baltimore Ravens | 5.16% | 5.27% |
American Football | CFL | 21/11/2022 | Toronto Argonauts - Winnipeg Blue Bombers | 4.94% | 5.27% |
Basketball | NBA | 21/11/2022 | New York Knicks - Phoenix Suns | 5.14% | 5.07% |
Basketball | Romanian Liga Nationala | 20/11/2022 | BCMU Pitesti - CS Municipal Ploiesti | 9.38% | 9.29% |

How Do I Get a Sportsbet Card?
Among the Sportsbet specials is a Sportsbet Cash card. You can use it to make deposits, withdraw funds and pay in stores.
To get it, you need to:
After applying, the card will be sent to the specified address. You will get the card in 2-3 weeks.
After that, you must activate your card.
Once again, please note, that NZ residents have the right to bet with Sportsbet, but they cannot get a Sportsbet Card, even if they are in Australia.
Sportsbet Security
Sportsbet is licenced by the Northern Territory Racing Commission.
The customer personal data is protected by the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption, a standard data protection method used by modern sites.
The bookmaker emphasises that it does its utmost to keep your data safe, but simultaneously, does not guarantee anything:
You acknowledge that no data transmission over the Internet is totally secure. Accordingly, Sportsbet does not warrant the security of any information which you transmit to it. However, once bookie receives your transmission, Sportsbet will take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, modification and disclosure including by using password protected systems and data bases and Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.
Customer Service at Sportsbet
You can contact the support service by phone or using a Live chat. Operators answer in a few minutes. First, they will ask you to give your username, full name and birth date.
Unfortunately, operators are very uncompromising and try to “exchange” information on your personal details: your email, username and birth date. During the dialogue, we had a feeling that we were suspected of espionage. Although we just wanted to ask about the deposit currency: we wanted to clarify the information provided in the FAQ section, concerning the fact that betting accounts can be kept in AUD and NZD. So, we do not understand why it was difficult for the operator to simply write 6 letters.
Such support service is absolutely unsupportive. And in the end, we never got a response. We rate the customer service at 4/10. We had a kind of a dialogue, but in fact, it was a waste of time.

Tips and Tricks for Betting at Sportsbet
Only a small percentage of customers win in betting, and it is about 10%, that is why we recommend that you initially aim for vivid emotions rather than for winnings instantly. However, here are some tips for you:
Bet with spare money
In addition to the first recommendation: bet only those amounts that are not critical to you and that you are ready to lose. If you follow this advice, you will get the maximum pleasure from betting without stress.
Do not try to win back
Everyone has bad days. If today you are out of luck and end up in the red, it is better to take a break and get back to betting later. Trying to immediately win back all the lost money is the worst thing a bettor can do. The desire to win back right away often leads bettors to irrationally enhance their stake amounts, i.e. bettors begin to bet much more money than they can afford to lose.
Upgrade your knowledge
Do not try to bet on all sports and competitions at once. Initially, it can be fun, however, in the long run, you will definitely be in the red. Select one or two sports and start to scrutinise them. Knowing the subtleties of the selected sport will give you an advantage over the bookmaker that has to deal with all sports simultaneously and can miss something.
If you want to bet on Racing, you can select several horses or jockeys and follow their races.
Watch out! “Experts”!
You can find lots of betting predictions and tips. But, looking closely, you will see that the majority of them are merely offers to bet on a common favourite. Any schoolboy can make such a prediction, and that's why bookmakers set low odds on a favourite.
Expertise is useful, but you do not need to look for advice to bet on favourites, instead focus on specific information and reasonable grounds for predictions. For example: “Team A will win because there have been several rearrangements in Team B, two base players have been injured and they play poorly in the rain, and it is supposed to rain on the match day”.
Be careful about multi bets
Multi bets attract bettors with their extremely high odds formed by multiplying the odds of several bets that seem to be profitable. But you have to keep in mind that the probability of the occurrence of all these events goes down proportionally. It is really difficult to correctly predict several outcomes at once.
Example. Two events have the probability of 50% each, and the odds for them are 2.00 (for convenience, let’s omit the margin for now). The probability that both of these events will occur together can be calculated by the following formula: 0.5 x 0.5 = 0.25 – i.e. it is only 25%. And if there are three such events, then: 0.5 х 0.5 x 0.5 = 0.25 x 0.5 = 0.125. This means that the multi bet wins only 1 time out of 8.
Now let’s add the margin. With a mid-level margin, which is offered by many bookmakers, including Sportsbet, the odds will be 1.90 instead of 2.00. Let’s calculate the multi bet: 1.90 x 1.90 x 1.90 = 6.859. As you can see, the tote odds are too far from being the “fair” 8.00 ones. In the long run, by placing such a bet you will lose the 1.14 of it. Meanwhile, if you place these three bets as singles, you will lose only the 0.1 of each bet, i.e. in total, –0.3 of the bet.
This conclusion is true for same race multi bets as well.
