BetRight is a relatively new online sports betting site founded in 2021. It is owned by IRPSX Pty Ltd, trading as Bet Right, a company in Australia. Continue reading as we explain how you can sign up for an account with the sports betting site and start placing bets.

How to Sign Up for BetRight

Before you can start playing at BetRight, you must have an account with the gambling operator. BetRight is available to New Zealanders and Australian players and it is licensed by the Northern Territory Racing Commission. To create an account with this online bookmaker, you must be at least 18 years of age as per the Australian gambling law. If you meet this requirement, visit the official sportsbook’s website and click the “Sign Up” button at the top.

Once you click on the “Sign Up” button, the registration will load, and you will be required to specify:

As part of the registration process, you will also have the option to set a deposit limit. You can do this by specifying the limit in the appropriate “Amount” field and the time in the “Duration” field. Once all the required information is provided, click the “Let’s Go” button to submit the registration form. However, be aware that doing this means you agree to the operator’s terms and conditions, so you may first want to check the T&Cs page out. Nevertheless, at the time of this review, there are no details about registration or other aspects of the bookmaker on the T&Cs page. One drawback we noticed in the registration department is that the operator does not offer quick registration via social networks, messengers or other apps. 

BetRight Verification

As it is with Australian licensed online gambling sites, BetRight requires players to verify their identity after signing up. Although you can deposit and place real money sports bets with an unverified account, you won’t be able to withdraw winnings unless you verify your identity. And according to the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006, unverified gambling accounts may be blocked within 72 hours. We recommend you verify your account as soon as you register with BetRight.

BetRight uses a “greenID” identity verification system, which allows it to complete players’ verification quickly and easily. To verify your identity at this sportsbook, you must complete the following steps: 

Verification is handled automatically and within 24 hours at BetRight. However, in cases where you can’t get your account verified from your “My Details” section, you can send the verification documents and information to [email protected]. How to Place a Bet on BetRight Online

After setting up an account with BetRight, you’d likely want to start placing sports bets. The good news is that this process is straightforward and pretty similar to other online betting sites. Follow the steps below to bet on your preferred sporting events at BetRight.

You can bet on sports via BetRight’s official website on your desktop computer or mobile device or the BetRight mobile app. For sports singles and accumulators, you can bet at least $0.25. However, for racing exotics and racing multiples, the minimum accepted total bet is $0.5.

BetRight allows players to place bets via telephone, although this option may not be the best choice. Nevertheless, the minimum stake is $10 per bet if you wish to bet via telephone.

The maximum winnings you can get from placing accumulator bets on sports and racing is $250,000 on each accumulator. However, if you place a same-game multi-bet, the maximum payout is limited to $50,000. You can read the BetRight Rule Book to know the limits and conditions surrounding each bet type. 

Australian BetRight Payment Methods

When it comes to the payments department, BetRight performed poorly. The betting site accepts only three banking options— credit/debit cards like Mastercard and Visa, PayID and Bank EFT. Compared to some top Australian online bookmakers, these options are limited and do not offer players much flexibility.

According to information on the deposit page, the minimum amount you can deposit using credit/debit cards is $10 and, the maximum is $50,000 per deposit. However, there are no set limits for PayID and Bank EFT deposits.

Withdrawing winnings at BetRight can only be done using NPP (The New Payments Platform) or EFT. NPP is an open-access fast payment infrastructure linked to numerous Australian banks. If your bank is not on NPP, you can use EFT to receive winnings at the bookmaker instead. But remember, you will need to verify your identity before withdrawing winnings at BetRight.

We contacted the bookmaker’s support team via live chat to verify the payment information on the site. An agent (Shally) verified that the limits are as specified on the page, but the processing time may vary. According to her, credit/debit card deposits are processed instantly. However, transactions using PayID for the first time can take up to 24 hours to process. In addition, deposits via bank EFT can also take around 24 hours to reflect. 

Two options are available to deposit at BetRight. The first option is during registration and the second is the regular deposit process. Let’s discuss how both options work.

Deposit during registration.

During the standard registration process, the bookmaker will allow you to set an optional deposit limit. Here, you will need to specify the deposit amount limit (minimum $10) and duration (1 day, 7 days, 14 days or 30 days), which is then applied to future deposits. Once you complete and submit the registration form, BetRight will take you to the deposit page automatically, and you will be required to

The regular deposit process is similar to the one offered during registration. The only difference is that you need to initiate the deposit process yourself. Here are the simple steps involved.

Only two options are available to withdraw your winnings at BetRight in Australia– the New Payments Platform (NPP) and EFT. Unlike some operators, BetRight does not have a unique payment card, and players also don’t have flexibility in terms of payout options to choose from. However, according to the operator’s customer support, payouts via NPP and EFT are processed within 3 to 5 business days.

BetRight AU offers betting on three forms of racing Thoroughbred, Greyhound and Harness. To access the racing section, click on the Racing tab” on the sidebar of the site. The operator offers over 60 racing events for Aussies to bet on each day, and you can even place outright racing bets. Once you click on the “All Racing” section of the Racing tab, you will see the racecard available to bet on. The racing events that this sportsbook cover takes place on various racecourses, such as Bulli Race 9 for greyhounds, Woodbine Mohawk for harness racing and Stony Creek for horse racing. BetRight also lets you bet on Jockey Challenges and Box Challenges.

To cater to a diverse range of racing punters, BetRight offers different types of bets and markets. The operator also provides decent statistics for horse racing events which can help you with your analysis of the right bets to place.

Tennis is one of the popular sports in Australia, and there are a couple of notable tennis events that take place in the country each year. When it comes to the choice of events, BetRight covers more prestigious tennis events than minor competitions or tournaments. Besides that, the markets for these prestigious events are better than for minor tennis competitions. For example, in the WTA Hua Hin  (which is not as prestigious as the Grand Slams), you can enjoy up to 24 markets for some games (match-winner betting, to win a set, total sets, lose a set and win the match). This is higher than the single market available in the PTT Argentina Men Clay games, where you can only bet on who will win the game (match-winner betting).

Cricket is Australia’s national sport, so it’s not surprising that it is available to bet on at BetRight. This sport is controlled and managed in Australia by the Cricket Australia sports federation. It is under this federation that cricket sports in the country are held, including the national cricket team, Twenty 20 Big Bash and so on.

Nevertheless, BetRight should consider improving these selections as many minor cricket competitions are missing, such as the Irani Trophy and Hazare Trophy competitions. However, the operator offers outright/futures betting for most cricket events.

BetRight offers pretty standard bet types of cricket betting. In the Big Bash League, you can bet who will win the game (match-winner betting), the winner of the toss, the most sixes, the highest 1st 6 overs, player of the match, top 1st innings Runscorer and Wicket taker. However, only one market (match winner) is available for test matches.

BetRight Live Betting

Live betting on sports is illegal in Australia. The 2001 Interactive Gambling Act restricted bookmakers in AU from offering live betting on sporting events. The reason for enacting this act was to combat the gambling addiction problem since it is much faster to bet on live events and know the outcome within a few minutes.

However, despite the Australian Parliament enacting this act, it has seen little success. While Aussie bookmakers do not have a live betting section on their platform, they have devised intelligent ways to circumvent the law and offer live betting legally over a telephone call. And since this is not stated in the act, it is not considered a breach.

BetRight has a telephone number that players can call to place bets on pre-game events. However, it does not offer in-play betting via telephone, which is pretty disappointing. When we chatted the customer support to ask about live betting, the agent (Jimmu) pointed out that the bookie does not have it yet but intends to include it in 2023. 

Streaming on BetRight

Unfortunately, BetRight does not offer streaming services for both sports and racing. So it is not possible to watch your favourite sports teams or players play in real-time on the site.

BetRight allows players to bet on mobile. It has a native Android and iOS app that you can install to enjoy the full mobile gambling experience. In this section, we will walk you through how to install the BetRight app on your smartphones and tablets.

There are two ways to install the BetRight iOS app. You can install it directly from the AppStore or the BetRight desktop website.

Once the BetRight app is completely downloaded, it will instantly appear on your home screen. You can launch the app, create an account, or log in to your existing account with the AU bookmaker.

If you cannot find the BetRight app after searching for it on AppStore, you can download it through the BetRight website. Follow these steps to download from the bookmaker’s website:

Like the iOS app, there are two ways you can download the BetRight app on your Android device. You can download it directly from the Google Play Store or through the link on BetRight’s website.

During our review, we tried finding the BetRight app on Google PlayStore, but the app was not found on Google’s PlayStore server. So we tried the other option to download through the link on the BetRight site. Here is the process:

After trying to download the BetRight app for Android devices on the betting site, the result was the same as shown in the screenshot below. We also chatted with the support team for assistance, but the agent could not provide substantial information on why the Android app is unavailable. So it is safe to say the Android app is currently not functioning.

BetRight also does not have an APK file for its Android app, which would have been an alternative. We searched the FAQ page on how to get the APK file and chatted with customer support, but we couldn’t find any. You can only use BetRight AU on your Android device through a web browser. You can bookmark the mobile bookmaker site on your device's home screen for quicker access and a similar experience to the iOS mobile app. However, note that features like push notifications will not be available.

Comparing the BetRight mobile betting site and app with the desktop site, the experience is similar. The base-colour theme and layout are pretty much the same across different devices. Not just that, you can bet on the same sports and enjoy the same markets and odds. You can also register an account across all three modes. The only noticeable difference is that the mobile site and app have a collapsible menu, while the desktop site does not.

BetRight Promotions

According to the Consumer Protection Act (NCRF) enacted in 2019, betting Advertisements are not allowed in Australia. This explains to a degree why no legal bookmaker in the country, including BetRight, advertises promotions directly on its website to encourage players to bet. The Customer Protection Act bans betting advertisements in all public places and on TV programs classified G or lower from 6 to 8.30 am and 4 to 7 pm.

Despite the strict policies against betting advertisements, many Australian bookmakers continue to find ways to promote their brands in the country through some ingenious ways. Some betting companies do this through professional sportsmen’s shirts, social networks, email marketing, etc. Even more disappointing is that the permitted time for betting adverts on TV programs is gradually increasing. According to a local document, daily gambling ads on Victorian free-to-air TV went up 253% between 2016 and 2021.

As pointed out earlier, the Consumer Protect Act does not allow bookmakers in the country to promote gambling through bonuses. But even before the 2019 Consumer Protection Act was enacted, there was a move to fight against widespread gambling advertisements in the Interactive Gambling Act of 2001. At the time, it was proposed that advertisements of bonuses to unauthorised users should be banned on Australian gambling websites.

So with this law in play, players could only be aware of a bookmaker’s bonus offers by creating an account with the betting site and/or agreeing to receive promotional newsletters via email. Indeed, such a move received criticism from sports punters who enjoyed having bonuses to boost their bankrolls. And even worse, some local sports betting sites promoted bonuses with daily fines of up to $1.1 million. To these operators, paying huge fines and advertising bonuses seemed more profitable to get more users onboard.

It is worth pointing out that there are regional differences when enforcing the ban on betting advertisements. At the federal level, lawmakers want a unified ban on advertisements of betting products and bonuses. However, some local authorities lifted the ban to allow companies to advertise their brand in a controlled manner. For instance, Victoria and New South Wales have already eased the ban on sports betting sites, allowing them to offer enhanced odds and reload offers.

What Else You Should Know Before You Bet at BetRight

BetRight is owned by IRPSX Pty Ltd trading as Bet Right. It is an Australian private company registered in 1999 under the LMSH class (Limited by Shares) From our research, the operator’s Australian Business Number  (ABN) is 41087708898, but it does not have any other betting site apart from BetRight that we know of. BetRight has clear and concise Terms and Agreements and a Book Rule that you should read before betting. As part of the Rule Book, the operator has the right to freeze your account if you are found guilty of breaking any of its rules.

Like every sportsbook, the odds and margin at BetRight vary depending on the tournament and game. However, after carefully checking the margin, we noticed that the margin for popular football matches is around 5.0% to 6.5%. On the other hand, the margin for cricket and tennis fluctuates a lot, between 4.5% and 8.5%.

Example margin calculation for Football: English Premier League - Everton vs Arsenal. BetRight offers the following odds for the match 8.00 - 4.70 - 1.38 (Home win - Draw - Away win). Using the standard margin calculation formula, let’s calculate the margin for the game: (1/8.00 + 1/4.70 + 1/1.38 - 1) x 100 = 6.24%. Considering the nature of this type of match, the margin is decent. 

Example margin calculation for cricket: One Day Internationals (ODI) - South Africa vs England. The odds for the game at BetRight are 2.11 - 1.73 (Home win - Away Win). The margin for the game is (1/2.11+ 1/1.73 - 1) x 100 = 5.19%

Example margin calculation for tennis: WTA Cali - Maria Lourdes Carle vs Martina Colmenga. BetRight offers the odds 1.41 - 2.77 (Home win - Away win) for the match. The margin, when calculated, is (1/1.41 + 1/2.77 - 1) x100 = 7.02%

How Do I Get a BetRight Card?

Nowadays most bookmakers provide their users with a unique payment card. Through this card, gambling sites can offer fee-free and faster transactions of payments, since they won’t need to go through several external verification procedures.

Another impressive feature of gambling payment cards is that players will be able to use them just like any regular debit/credit card. This means they can be used for withdrawing money on ATMs and paying for online transactions even outside the issuing gambling operator’s website. However, such cards also flaw that they share in common with regular credit/debit cards. The customer support is quite fast, and the operators showed a good knowledge of how the betting site works. However, there are cases where the agents could not provide answers, such as when we asked why the Android app was not functional.

When we tested the live chat support for the first time, an agent took less than 2 minutes to attend to us. However, our subsequent test took around 4 minutes, so it is safe to say the response time varies depending on the number of customers in the queue. Live chat is available 24/7 and in English. But if you don’t feel like using the live chat support, you can click on the discord icon in the social section of the site’s footer. You will need to have an account with Discord to use this option. Once your account is set up, you can chat with the operator’s support team and other players. You will also see the different channels, such as announcements, rules and so on.

As for email support, you can contact the bookmarker at [email protected]. When we tested the email support, we received an instant response that the support team was working on our query. A follow-up email was also sent within 20 minutes to address the query. But if you are looking for a fast response, you should use live chat support instead.
